In addition to audio mastering and editing, I offer original sound design for both theater and film. Falling some where between Foley, Musique Concrete, and harmoniously composed environments, my work is best described as 'disquieting' because of the unmusical pallet I use to paint from. Being abstract in nature, my sound designs and sound effects are developed off the subtleties heard in everyday living. A shift in perception or feeling can be achieved by removing such sounds once introduced. I.E.- Humming fluorescent or the rumble of central air is only noticed once it is removed. The sudden absence of this type of sound in the right situation is very effective in shifting perception.

Armed with a small DAT and stereo microphone, my sound designs are first constructed by gathering source material relevant to the work in progress. Later, while working closely with director and crew, they are layered, edited, mixed, enhanced and finally mastered to 16bit audio Cd or 24bit DVD, assuring the highest possible fidelity. (In the near future all designs will be available in Dolby 5.1) And in those rare instances where prerecorded material is not fitting, I offer live sound design as operator and electro-acoustic performer for short run theater and installations (depending on my schedule of course). If a sound design is already chosen and arranged but the technical aspects are not, I can assist by offering my editing services as a way to achieve and complete ideas.
